Romanization Converter

If you can see this, it means your browser is not able to run Java applets. You will need a browser such as Netscape 2 or above. Netscape Navigator 4.05 is recommended.

This is version 1 of a Java applet that converts amongst some of the more common Romanization systems for Chinese.

To use it simply type the string you want to convert in the appropriate field and either press return or the button associated with the text field. Currently BoPoMoFo cannot be the source field but it will print out the equivalent from other romanizations. The BoPoMoFo is in the GB encoding, but needs a Chinese viewing program (TwinBridge, CStart) to be visible.

I'll be adding Yale and Gwoyeu Romatzyh and the ability to do extended Romanization strings.

I'm interested in hearing your ideas and suggestions for this tool. Please visit my guestbook with your comments. If you came to this page directly, you might also want to take a look at some of my other on-line Chinese tools.
